[Concert Report] 19 March 2010: Jason Castro at Glorietta 5 Atrium
0 comments 12:03 AM Posted by WGThis is a partial concert report. I'm exhausted but today was another successful fan experience.
The Glorietta mall show was scheduled at 6pm, but it started at 6:30pm. The delay might have been caused by Jason's visit to two radio stations. The stations are about 15minutes away from the mall, but with the traffic in Manila, especially along the main road (EDSA), the drive would have taken much longer.
Bits and pieces:
* Stephen did the soundcheck at around 6pm. Since the audience members were already settled in their seats, Jason didn't come out anymore. During the Trinoma show, the sound check happened before people were let in to occupy allotted seats.
* The set list was the same. It seems that Jason closes most of his shows with Hallelujah. I love his version, but I wonder if I'd walk away after a show with a different feeling if he ended his set with another song.
* First song - something seemed off; volume of the mic? Guitar? IDK.
* Fans were louder at this show, but clapped less during the more upbeat songs.
* I spotted Jason's dad on the sidelines, singing along to some songs. I also saw Jason's wife Mandy peeking from the sidelines, watching her husband sing. She also mouthed words to some of the songs.
* Right before Jason sang the first line of Hallelujah, a girl screamed "i LOVE YOU JASON!!!" Wow. Great timing. It obviously threw off Jason a little bit, but he was able to catch himself and managed to save the opening. I'm not against screaming "i love you Jason," but it could have been done at another time, not when he was just about to sing.
* The meet and greet was so fast! There was a group of kids who posed with Jason and he crouched down so the photo would look better.
* Initial show mechanics stated the first 100 CD buyers would get a CD signing stub, but the organizers allowed everyone who bought a CD to go onstage to get it signed by Jason.
* Jason gave out some shirts. I WANT ONE! I don't think they brought enough merchandise to sell so they just gave it away :(
* A fan also came with her own ukelele which had an I <3 JASON sticker on it. One of the bodyguards got it from the fan and Jason signed it!
---
I won't be going to Cebu anymore to watch the show tomorrow, so my next and last post on Jason's shows in the Philippines will be after Sunday night's show at Market Market.
Btw, I'll most likely just upload all the video footage I have after the last show :)

[Concert Report] 18 March 2010: Jason Castro at Trinoma mall
3 comments 11:26 PM Posted by WGHi guys, WG here with my concert/mall show report :)
UPDATE: 1 video added. Internet connection sucks! Video is posted after the jump below.
I arrived at Trinoma just before the soundcheck began. I heard girls scream around the area which clearly meant Jason went onstage already. I was able to take a short clip of the soundcheck.
SOUNDCHECK
can you see Jason?
The spotlights were not yet turned on during the soundcheck. At this point, many of the fans with seat stubs were on queue by the assigned entrances.
This CD booth was set up outside the activity area.
First 100 CD buyers got a CD signing stub. There were still people who bought CDs even if they weren't assured of getting it signed. Fortunately, the record label and the show organizers allowed the non-stub holders to have their CDs signed too.
Not long after the sound check ended, the gates opened and people were finally allowed to sit. My friends and I took our seats in the assigned area and waited.
I found this funny:
spotlight on Jason's face on the huge tarpaulin banner *LOL*
The show started a few minutes after 7PM. I thought there would be more announcements so I wasn't able to turn on my camera right away. Yes, my nerves kicked in so early!
TRINOMA SHOW SETLIST
1. That's What I'm Here For
2. Love Uncompromised
3. It Matters to Me
4. Somewhere Over the Rainbow
5. If I Were You
6. You Can Always Come Home
7. Let's Just Fall In Love Again
8. Hallelujah
I hope I didn't forget any song!
I took mostly videos. Videos are still uploading and it might take long because I chose the HD setting on my camera. The files are pretty huge!
VIDEOS I'll add more as I am able to successfully upload videos.
THAT'S WHAT I'M HERE FOR
In the meantime here are some photos:
IF REPOSTING ELSEWHERE, PLEASE DO NOT HOTLINK! Upload to your own image host like Photobucket, Flickr, Imageshack.
Jason sings really well live. I'm really VERY happy. I waited so long to see him! It was only a dream to see him live and if possible in my home country. Never thought it would happen this year.
I also wanted to hear either Heart of Stone or This Heart of Mine. Maybe Jason can change his setlist for the next two shows in Manila?
After the show, the meet and greet (photo op only) and CD signing began. I was able to meet Jason and I don't think I said anything intelligible except for "Hi," and "Thank you." Hahaha! I was too mesmerized!!! I wanted to say something substantial but my brain turned to mush. I'll try again tomorrow.
He's really charming and sweet. I watched him during the meet and greet and every time he faced the next people in line he had a smile on his face already. I've seen many artists perform live at different Ayala Malls and Jason is the only one so far who never seems to stop smiling.
Here are some photos from the meet and greet and CD signing:
nice boots!
My friends and I didn't buy the EP at this show. We'll buy tomorrow (and on Sunday). We watched until the CD signing ended and Jason waved goodbye.
Keep checking back for more photos and videos from the Trinoma show, as well as recaps and more photos from the press conference and the next show at Glorietta Mall :)

[Ticket Info] John Mayer Live in Manila
0 comments 6:42 PM Posted by LiveManila[GIVEAWAY] Seat Stubs for Jason Castro's show at TRINOMA MALL
1 comments 2:14 PM Posted by LiveManilaCONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.
Congratulations to the winner of our Jason Castro giveaway!
The winner has just been notified via SMS.
Thanks for joining!
LIVEMANILA is giving away seat stubs to Jason Castro's show at Trinoma mall!
Three of us were able to get seat stubs for Ayala Malls A Card holders. We already asked other friends if they want to watch but we still have three extra seat stubs. Instead of letting them go to waste and see empty seats during the show, we decided to give them away on our blog.
Getting these stubs was not easy for us. First, we had to call the the Trinoma Concierge hotline when they opened seat reservations MANY times. It was so hard to connect! Next, we had to wait for the confirmation message sent via SMS. The final step was claiming the seat stubs yesterday.
Details on how to join after the jump:
CONTEST IS NOW CLOSED.
CONTEST MECHANICS:
1. Answer this question by sending an e-mail to livemanilaATgmailDOTcom or post a comment.
(sorry there's a weird problem with the comments box at the moment)
What is your favorite Jason Castro performance on American Idol? What song? Tell us why!
2. Include your complete name, e-mail address and mobile/cellphone number. Make sure you send us the correct details, especially your mobile number.
3. Since this is our first giveaway and we're not sure if enough people will join, the best person with the best answer will win ALL THREE (3) SEAT STUBS.
3. CONTEST DEADLINE: Thursday, March 18 2010 at 12NOON (Philippine time/ GMT+8)
4. Winner will be announced on the blog at 1PM, March 18, 2010. We will send a confirmation text/SMS to the winner.
5. Winner must be able to claim the seat stubs from us at TRINOMA MALL at 6PM. Winner must show us the confirmation text, otherwise the seat stubs will not be given.
Here is a photo of the actual seat stubs we are giving away:
As far as we know, two kinds of seat stubs were released:
1. Green - A card seat stubs, given only to A card holders who were able to reserve
2. Yellow - seat stubs for the public, given to those who met the purchase requirement at the mall
Ayala mall shows normally have a VIP area for sponsors and friends. We do not know what kind of stubs they have for the Trinoma show.

Spotted: Jason Castro ads
0 comments 2:44 PM Posted by WGI'm a big fan of Jason Castro. I watched and even voted for him when he was on American Idol. You can only imagine my excitement this week and today as the day of his arrival draws near.
Today, a couple of friends and I claimed our seat stubs for the first show.
I looked at the photos on my camera and phone, and realized that in only TWO DAYS, I'd set foot in all three malls, all three venues of Jason's Manila show. I've seen only the banners/ads for the show and I'm so excited already!
Trinoma Activity Center
See more of the banners after the jump:
TRINOMA (outdoors; parking building)
MARKET, MARKET (one of the many entrances to the mall)
MARKET, MARKET Activity Center
MAKATI - location of Glorietta Mall They usually put up these ads along the main road (EDSA - E. delos Santos Avenue)
inside one of the Glorietta mall areas
I CAN'T WAIT!!! I'm also looking forward to getting the confirmation message from Glorietta mall regarding the show on Friday. I was able to call and reserve a seat last Monday (A card reservations)

[Announcement] Jason Castro Live at the Ayala Malls
0 comments 2:26 PM Posted by LiveManilaMark your calendars for Jason Castro's upcoming shows in the Philippines.
WG, fickle fan will watch his shows for sure!!!
Press release after the jump:
JASON CASTRO LIVE AT THE AYALA MALLS THIS MARCH!“Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” A Sweet-Summer-Lovin’ Tune Off His ‘Love Uncompromised’ EP
Those who watched Jason Castro on the seventh season of American Idol are by now familiar with his likeably down-to-earth personality and aw-shucks demeanor. When he opens his mouth to sing, it’s like watching a totally different person. Any off-beat quirkiness seems to fall away when his authentic maturity and spell-binding voice melts the hearts of every listener.
This March get mesmerized while Jason Castro belts out colorful summer lovin’ tunes in Manila! You’re in for a sweet summer and post-Valentine treat from Warner Music Philippines and the The Ayala Malls as Jason Castro is looking forward to serenading his Manila & Cebu fans. Catch him live at these series of shows on March 18 – Trinoma, March 19 – Glorietta 5, March 20 – Ayala Center Cebu and March 21 – Market! Market!
Castro—A multi-talented singer and guitarist, was among the most popular and talented artists in American Idol history, entering the record books as the first contestant to play an instrument on the show. His performance of the Leonard Cohen-penned classic “Hallelujah” proved such an audience favorite that the late, great Jeff Buckley’s rendition of the song hit #1 on the iTunes chart the following week, selling an astonishing 178,000 digital singles. Jason scored a chart-topping single of his own a few weeks later with his interpretation of “Somewhere Over The Rainbow,” which also hit #1 on iTunes after a show-stopping performance of the song on American Idol. Upon the season’s conclusion, Castro was among the stars of the hugely successful “American Idols LIVE! 2008 Tour 2008”
The 22-year-old Texan earned himself a devoted fan base eager to hear what he would do once freed to perform his own songs. Those folks will get their chance with the release of Castro’s self-titled debut album on Atlantic Records. His season’s winner, David Cook, and runner-up, David Archuleta, both released debut albums about six months after the season finale. But no one rushed Jason Castro to pin down his style, and he certainly didn’t rush himself. It’s among the most sure-footed records, debut or otherwise, by an “Idol” contestant from any season. Partly that’s because Mr. Castro has had time to marinate, and to woodshed.
The heydays of the two David’s are over, it’s time to make way for Jason Castro’s music to fill the days of your summer and forward. Coming soon the Philippines is his The Love Uncompromised EP, a prelude to a full album this set to be released at a later date under Warner Music Philippines. For now you can enjoy “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again” on you cell phone and get the heart-on-sleeve and toe-tapping pop ringtune when you text JC to 5677!
Jason Castro Live at the Ayala Malls is brought to you by Warner Music Philippines & The Ayala Malls!
