###DAVID ARCHULETA RETURNS TO MANILA FOR A PROMO TOUR###

American Idol Season 7 runner-up David Archuleta conquered Manila last year with his back-to-back concert with David Cook. Now, he is set to return to the country to delight his fans as he promotes his sophomore album “The Other Side Of Down.”

His showcase will be held at the SM City North EDSA Skydome this Nov. 17 at 6pm. Buy his latest album “The Other Side of Down” at the venue to have your CDs signed by David himself. It features the hits “Something ‘Bout Love” and “Elevator.”

Not only the follow up to David’s 2008 self-titled debut, it’s a reintroduction to the American Idol runner-up with the angelic voice who 30 million television viewers fell in love with during season 7—now older, wiser, with faith still on his side and an eternally optimistic wide-eyed outlook. Hence, the album’s title.

“For me, it’s about moving forward and making progress,” David explains. “I’m heading towards ‘the other side of down,’ which is ‘up.’”

David Archuleta’s “The Other Side of Down” Manila Promo Tour is presented by SM Supermalls, SM North EDSA, Sony Music, MYX, ASAP Live, The Peninsula Manila, Magic 89.9 and RX 93.1. [Concert Report] HelloGoodbye at Greenbelt

It was my birthday. Yay. WG invited me to watch HelloGoodbye in GB since she's a big fan of the band. Not knowing anything about them, I decided to accompany her, and got me seats for my birthday. Who could say no to that? Turns out, I was going to be in for a big treat! Yay.

I did a bit of research before I went to the show, and listened to some tunes from YouTube. An hour before the show, I met WG and we lined up to get our A-Card tickets. We had some extra ones and since it was too late to host a contest here in LiveManila, we scouted the venue to look for huge fans of the group to give out our extra tickets & meet and greet passes. We finally saw three girls, who are huge fans, complete with posters, hanging out at the barrier areas. I could see they looked quite apprehensive when myself and WG approached them and asked them if they wanted tickets to the show. They asked: "For Free?" We answered, "Yes, for free." [Why would we sell them? We are fellow fangirls ourselves and know how it feels to really like a band and how it feels to help others out =)] They immediately started screaming with joy! Teehee. But wait, there's more: we had an extra meet & greet pass! We asked these girls: "Okay, who's the biggest fan of the band?" They pointed to one particular girl and voila! One meet & greet stub for her too! =) We're so happy to make one fan's day!

Back to the show -- when the boys first came out to perform, I was immediately drawn to Andy! I was curious at first because he wasn't in any of the promotional photos or even the video I saw of HG! The rest? IMO, they looked like nerds compared to Andy. Teehee. I think Andy would have beat them all up at the school playground when he was younger -- Andy's all tattooed and emo! They are so energetic when they played -- and they kept the fans wanting more, more, more!

So, from all my photos, the concert almost became the Andy show. teehee. He's British so it's a plus plus plus [and friends of mine know how much I <3 Britain] whee.

[Concert Report] One Way Live at SM Mall of Asia

As LiveManila's resident Korean entertainment fan, I was ecstatic when I found out One Way had scheduled appearances in Manila. I first heard of the group when I saw their cover of Only Look At Me by Taeyang of BigBang on YouTube.

The group had their official debut in Korea only a few months ago and immediately gained fans. It's amazing they're able to visit the Philippines so soon and I'm a happy fan.

Due to a busy schedule, I couldn't see them until the weekend. Hindi ko na-career ang pagiging One Way fan! I wasn't able to go to their Megamall show, so I made sure I would not miss their last show at MoA.

with Christian Bautista

I purchased CDs as soon as I arrived and kept the number stub for the CD signing. The show was scheduled at 5pm on the ads online & the Facebook fan pages, but at MOA the poster said 6pm. There was an event at the Music Hall (Project Dance) and the One Way fans got settled as soon as the area was cleared.

Most seats were taken away and only a few rows were left in the VIP area. The saleslady at the CD booth told me earlier that in previous shows (she didn't specify so I don't know if she meant One Way's previous shows or just shows at SM malls in general) people would stand up on chairs so those in the back could not see well. *shrugs* This was a disadvantage because One Way arrived at around 7PM and the show didn't start until 15 or 20minutes later.

The wait was worth it, because once the show began, everyone in the audience was in high spirits.

SET LIST
1. One Way [no fancam]
2. Wrong Number (with Christian Bautista)
3. Sexy Love
4. Peter's tap dance (with Young Sky)
5. Forever (Chance's solo)
6. Insomnia
7. Magic

[Fancam] WRONG NUMBER

Chance

Chance and YoungSky

Peter

Peter already released a solo album (Showman) in 2008

Jun Young Cho aka Young Sky is the rapper. He's the youngest member, born in 1988 (!)

The guys announced they would be choosing some lucky ladies from the audience. I read fan accounts that they brought girls onstage for Sexy Love. I thought they would step down from the stage and choose from the VIP and possibly even the area for everyone else--I noticed a lot of eager volunteers, but three girls emerged from the side of the stage. I guess they were pre-selected because there were some violent reactions from the girls around me. One said, "Hindi naman pumili! Nakita ko na yan sa Sky dome!"
Ooookay. Calm down, girls ^^

this girl is the luckiest daw (again, heard from the girls around me) because Chance kissed her on the forehead

I have fancam of this but it's still uploading. Apologies especially to the girl partnered with Chance because I stopped recording before the song ended. I would've captured the kiss if I recorded the entire song.

Btw, if any of the lucky girls see this post and would like untagged copies of the photos, please e-mail livemanilaATgmailDOTcom. I'll send you the original files. I have a couple more not uploaded.

The host, a DJ from a local station went onstage to chat with Chance and YoungSky while Peter got ready for his special performance. He had prepared to show off his tap dancing skills. Nice.

with beats + Young Sky rapping

During the autograph signing, I complimented him on his tap dancing and he said he really wanted to prepare something for the fans. He even mentioned he's starting to lose his voice.

A few days before they flew to the Philippines, Chance's solo song & MV was released. I love it!
[Fancam] Forever

[Fancam] Geek in the Pink (Jason Mraz cover)

They ended the show with Magic. Fans were screaming "more, more, more" but they didn't do another number. Instead, they thanked fans over and over. They also called Christian to go back onstage. Before going back to the dressing room to prepare for the CD signing, they asked Christian to ask if there were any jejemons in the audience. LOL!

Overall, it was a good show. The guys have intense stage presence and their confidence just oozes with each performance. You can see how much they enjoy what they do.

They did rounds of three malls here, and various TV shows. I'm sure they charmed everyone they met. I didn't have any other close encounter with them but when I managed a bit of conversation during the CD signing they all seemed very nice. They also gave off a "good friend" vibe, which earns plus points in my book. All three thanked me (and I would guess everyone else) for coming after I told each one I enjoyed the show.

Chance, Peter and YoungSky: thank you for bringing your music to us. Your interest and efforts in learning about my country & our language culture even before you set foot here an is commendable. I've seen few artists do the same.
You really made a lot of fans happy. I hope to meet you again in the Philippines or even Korea.
I sincerely wish you more success (in Korea and other countries as well). Continue to bring joy to people with your music. OneLove.

[Star Sighting]: Leonardo DiCaprio in the Philippines!

Fickle Fan's note: Just read a tweet and a text from a friend which said this exciting news!

After Jude Law had a beach holiday with his girlfriend, Sienna Miller, we're set to be host to another Hollywood A-Lister, Leo DiCaprio

*swoons*

Here's an excerpt from Ricky F.Lo's Funfare article today in The Philippine Star

Leonardo DiCaprio is coming for a visit early next month. This piece of good news was confirmed by DiCaprio himself through his Hollywood agents and publicists.

According to earlier reports, DiCaprio was arriving in early 2011.

“It turned out that he’s arriving earlier than expected,” said Joyce Ramirez, director for International Publicity at PR Asis Worldwide, who invited DiCaprio not to promote his new movie, Inception, but to spearhead an environmental-awareness project in cooperation with a huge conglomerate in Albay. “DiCaprio will be here for one week. He has chosen to stay at the Misibis Bay, an ultra-luxurious resort. It’s not yet sure if he will make a stopover in Manila or fly straight to Legazpi City on a private jet.”

It’s Joyce’s brainchild to bring DiCaprio to the Philippines to help boost our tourism industry especially in Albay, with Legazpi City as a world-class eco-tourism destination.

It’s not DiCaprio’s first trip to Asia. After starring in the all-time hit Titanic, DiCaprio went to Thailand to shoot The Beach, his follow-up starrer. The STAR did an exclusive interview with DiCaprio in L.A. for that movie in late 1999.

sources: Philstar.com/Yahoo News Philippines

Now give us the dates so we can book airline tickets to Legaspi and get tickets to his event if it's open to the public!!
More information when we get it.

source: http://www.facebook.com/pages/Gin-Blossoms/10194655949

Yesterday, Gin Blossoms posted this on their official Facebook page: "Have some BIG..scratch that..COLOSSAL news! Stay tuned! Or do you want a hint OR care to take a guess?"

Today they added  "Regarding the previous post...we're going to be performing in Pac-Man's home country soon! Very excited! It'll be our FIRST time over there!"

They also posted the hint on their Twitter account:

A quick look at their Tour Dates reveal a packed schedule for July.  We hope more details on their upcoming show(s) in the Philippines will be announced soon.

Gin Blossoms who?? They're a band who became popular in the 90s with hits such as Hey Jealousy, Until I Fall Away, Mrs. Rita, Follow You Down and Til I Hear It From You (which was on the soundtrack of the 1995 film Empire Records)

[Concert Report] Train Live at Alabang Town Center

Train is one of those bands who are popular and have been around for years but never had the chance to visit the Philippines. Foreign musicians visiting the Philippines tend to be for the "oldies" audience, or the young and mainstream audience.

I was in high school when Train's song Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me) became a hit. They're one of the bands I never thought would be able to do a show in Manila so it was a real treat to be sitting in front of the stage last night.

The show started at around 7:30pm. I didn't mind the additional wait, as some seats were not yet occupied when the show was scheduled to begin. It was also good to see a good audience turnout.

One of the show's highlights: Pat Monahan singing the first part of When I Look To The Sky a capella

More stories, photos after the jump:

I was captivated by lead singer Patrick Monahan as soon as he went onstage. He was able to connect with the audience the moment he opened his mouth to sing.

My friends and I couldn't help but say, "oh he looks better in person!" Haha.

Pat was a joy to watch as he never stayed in one spot too long. He indulged fans on the leftmost and rightmost sides of the venue by singing in front of their areas. He danced around onstage, and even took the cameras of fans to take photos of him with them.

I watched drummer Scott Underwood and he looked really amused with the audience

Jimmy Stafford, the lead guitarist also looked very happy. When he switched to the ukelele for Hey, Soul Sister and saw how the audience sang along, he had the biggest smile on his face.

(Btw, did you know Jimmy has a blog?)

Before She's On Fire ended, Pat called for 5 females onstage. They chose two groups of friends.

The girls were given trainette t-shirts. Oh they looked so excited! These girls were probably very young when Train first entered the music scene.

Pat said they had to do two things: dance and sing. The girls participated by singing along with Pat to She's On Fire.

They ended the set with Hey, Soul Sister then darted off backstage. People chanted "More, more," then it didn't take long before the band came back.

Pat said he got the vest at the mall

encore: Drops Of Jupiter

Pat said it was their first time in the Philippines and they should have visited sooner. He also said it was their first time to perform in a mall (haha). Well, we Filipinos can't always count on concert producers to bring artists here. It's good that Ayala Malls continue to bring foreign artists for mall shows.

They sound very good live, even better than their recordings. There was never a dull moment. Pat kept constant interaction with the audience.

I do hope they come back for another show.

Thank you for putting on a great show
